ADOPTION POLICY |
| We seek permanent, responsible, and loving homes in our adoption program. This means that the prospective adopter must meet certain requirements. Our goal is to place each animal in a good home. All of our policies are designed to protect the animals and prevent suffering. |

When you are thinking of adopting a dog or a cat, you probably think of our shelter. While dogs and cats make up the vast majority of our residents, did you know that we often have other kinds of animals available for adoption? In the past few years, the shelter has provided temporary care for a wide variety of other animals, including rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, reptiles, ferrets, rats, pot-bellied pigs, and a variety of farm animals including horses, goats, pigs, fowl, and even cows. Because our facility is not designed for long-term housing of other animals, we do not generally accept owner surrenders, but instead try to refer owners of these pets to appropriate facilities. However, because we are responsible for the strays of Walworth County, as well as neglected and abused domestic animals,
