2 weeks old (plus one day)

All of the kittens' eyes are almost completely open!   Kittens' eyes are blue when when first opened.  In a few weeks they will begin to change color, though  it will be several weeks before the eyes have completely reached their permanent color.  The kittens' pupils don't dilate and constrict readily at this age, and though the kittens have some vision now, it will be fuzzy--it will gradually improve over the next several weeks.  The kittens' hearing and sense of smell are improving, and as you can see, they are starting to sit up and crawl a bit, though they are still very wobbly and uncoordinated.  The kittens are getting so big, they won't fit in their current bed much longer!  They are now eating more at each feeding and sleeping for longer intervals between feedings.

Mama is content to stay in her current nest--it has not yet gotten too crowded for her.  She shows no sign of diminishing interest in the kittens--at this point, motherhood is still her whole world.  Like last week, when I move them out of the bed, she simply comes out to join them.  The kittens and the bed are still spotless, thanks to her efforts, as she is still cleaning the babies and stimulating their elimination.
