Looking for other ways to donate to the shelter, but on a tight budget or schedule? Here are a few ways you can help.
Aluminum Cans
You can help the shelter and the environment at the same time by donating aluminum cans to the shelter for recycling. The funds from recycling help to support the animals, and each can recycled is one less can taking up space in a landfill.
Want to make an even bigger difference? Start a can collection at your workplace! Cans for recycling can be dropped off at our outside collection site at the shelter.

Grocery Store Receipt Programs
Many grocery stores have a receipt program in which a portion of each receipt total is donated to a local nonprofit organization. Lakeland Animal Shelter participates in many of these programs. Here is a list of participating stores and their programs.
Pick-N-Save
The Pick-n-Save Advantage Card has a built in donation program, the "We Care" program. Simply specify which participating organization you wish to donate funds to, and each time you use your Advantage card, Pick-n-Save will donate a percentage to the organization. The code for Lakeland Animal Shelter is 448640.
Sentry
To participate in the Sentry Funds for Friends Program, simply ask for a sticker at the register. Bring your receipts with stickers or send them in to the shelter. The shelter will then redeem these receipts for a donation.
Piggly Wiggly
Thank you to all of you who have supported us through the years through the Piggly Wiggly program. Unfortunately, this program has ended and we are no longer able to redeem receipts for donations.
Mielke's
Simply turn in your Mielke's receipts to the shelter. The shelter will then redeem these receipts for a donation.
Recycle Inkjet Cartridges
G7's environmental Program, Recycle4dollars, allows you to recycle your inkjet cartridges and support our shelter at the same time. There are two ways to participate:
1. click on the link below to go to recycle4dollars.com. Click on "recycle for charity" and follow the instructions for recycling. Select "Lakeland Animal Welfare Society" from the Animal Lovers category.
You will simply indicate what cartridges you will be recycling and how many, and you will be able to print a prepaid shipping label. Package your cartridges, attach the label, and send them in. Our shelter will receive a donation for each cartridge you recycle. This is also a great activity for your workplace!
2. Have only only one or two cartridges? Stop at the shelter for a labeled envelope and simply send your cartridges in.
Either way, just like with aluminum cans, you will be helping the environment and the animals at the same time.
