Our foster application process involves two steps, an application step and an interview step in which our staff will work with you to identify possible fostering options.

In the application step, the following is required::

·        A completed foster application.

·        Photo identification with an address that matches the address on your application.   Identification must also show that you are 18 years of age or older.

·        Verification that animals are allowed in your home.

·        If you rent:  Your landlord’s name and address and a copy of your lease if available.

·        If you own your home:  Proof of ownership (a deed, mortgage paper, payment book, etc.).

·        Proof that companion animals currently living in your home are up-to-date on rabies and distemper vaccinations or your veterinarian’s name and telephone number.

We will not knowingly place a pet in a situation where its well-being is questionable.  Therefore, we reserve the right to refuse an application.  No pet will be placed with people who mislead or fail to provide accurate information on this application.

The first portion of our application requests general household information.  The latter part of our application contains  a detailed questionnaire to help us to determine what foster situation(s) would be best for you.

After your application is submitted, it will go through our normal verification process.  This step generally takes 1-2 business days.

If your application meets our basic criteria, we will contact you to set up an interview. During this interview, we will review fostering options that would be best suited to you, and you will have the opportunity to ask questions, express concerns, or identify any needs you might have.  We will work with you in the future to match you up with the appropriate foster animal(s) as well as to provide you with any special information or training you may need.  Please note that we have no control over when we have candidates for foster care, and a suitable candidate in need of a foster home may not be immediately available.

Don’t be shy about asking questions!  This is a major commitment on your part and we want to assist you in every way possible.
