Feline Friends Days 2007
with a feline friend or two at
Saturday, September 29th: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Sunday, September 30th: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Calling all cat lovers!
Kitten season has been very heavy this year, and the flood of incoming litters has led to an ever-increasing feline population at the shelter. As of early September, our shelter was responsible for the care of over 300 cats and kittens! We currently have approximately six times as many cats as we have dogs! Our Feline Friends days are dedicated to these fabulous felines to give them the spotlight they deserve. It's a great time to come out to the shelter and find a purr-fect match (or two)!
· Meet foster kittens visiting for the day!
· Meet additional cats and kittens that will soon be ready for adoption.
· Reduced adoption fees for cats now through September 30th!* All cat and kitten adoption fees are reduced by $25!
Can't adopt?
This volume of cats and kittens puts a tremendous strain on the shelter's resources, and our supply and monetary needs increase as we work to provide day-to-day care and medical care for so many deserving animals.
So if you want to help, you can also come join us for some homemade cookies, visit with some of the kitties and:
· Help provide needed supplies--canned cat food, kitten food, bleach, paper towels, cat toys and kitten formula are some of our top needs right now! See our wish list for more information on our everyday needs, most of which increase with our population.
· Help us to stop overpopulation at its source by making a donation to the John Vogel Memorial Spay/Neuter Fund! This fund is used to help offset the cost of spay/neuter so that lower-income families can ensure their beloved pets are cared for, and are not contributing to the overpopulation problem.
· Learn more about how you can help by becoming a foster home.
Want to help make people aware of this event? You can download and print a flier to post for the adopt-a-thon here. Note: please respect the posting policies of any businesses or public forums.
*Note: in order to be eligible to take a cat or kitten home on the 29th or 30th, adoption applications must be submitted no later than noon on Thursday, September 27th and must have an “approved" status. Only animals who have had all necessary medical procedures and assessment will be able to go home on the 29th or 30th. In all other cases, arrangements for pickup will be made based on the needs of the individual cat or kitten. Applications received for a specific animal by the 30th qualify for the adoption fee discount, whether or not the animal is ready to go home. To apply to adopt online, please go to Spottie's Page on our website.
